Thumb turn locks for holiday lets

Thumb turn cylinders let the door lock and unlock from the inside with a turn, no key needed. They are popular in holiday lets because they are simple for guests and reduce late-night messages about “we cannot find the key”. They also make it easier to secure the door quickly from inside.

When thumb turns are a good fit

  • Main entrance doors where guests need simple locking from inside.
  • Flats and short-stay properties with frequent guest turnover.

Important security note

Thumb turns are not right for every door. If there is glazing close to the lock, a thief may be able to break glass and reach the turn. Where that risk exists, we will recommend a safer option, for example changing the door setup, adding protection, or using an alternative cylinder and access method.
